Anyone else have this problem?

i have windows 10 installed and generally like it. and the only thing holding me back from using edge, is there is no extensions for it. But the problem i have is that it runs fine, but suddenly it will no longer recognize the hard drive, and even startup diagnostics cant fix it. then ill have to stick the windows 10 usb in and boot that way and once im up and running using that method, i can pull the usb and windows 10 will boot normally to my hard drive. anyone else have this problem and how do i fix it?

It sounds more like a faulty Hard drive than a Windows 10 issue to me.

Is there any chance you could make a dump of your system eventlog and post it so we can see if it logs any hard drive errors?

no...and its not the hard drive because it less than two years old and i never had this problem with windows 8.1.. i know its a problem with win10

Sounds like a faulty connection. Did you disconnect and reconnect your hard drive. And 2 year old hard drives have been known to go bad.

maybe it is time to get a new hard drive. or You can open disk management to check your hdd.

Before beginning what needs to be addressed, please save your data.
--- Create a system image backup.
--- Since you mention ““its a problem with win10”, would you consider a clean install if it looks like a reasonable solution”

Moving on

Your computer is an HP Pavilion 23 desktop.
--- Please run winver and let us know the Windows 10 version

There are times the HDD becomes unrecognized during normal use.
--- “startup diagnostics cant fix it”
--- What does the startup diagnostics report and what is it that it cannot fix?

You use a “windows 10 usb” to boot back up.
--- Then you remove the usb: following that “windows 10 will boot normally to my hard drive.”
--- I haven’t seen that yet but if that’s what works for you, that is what we will go with for the time being.
OK, once you have the computer running fine, is it possible to use it the rest of the day or even as long as 24 hours?

--- I hope you are correct that it isn’t a HHD problem but we have to determine that if we can as it’s very possible for a HHD to go bad within a two-year time frame.

Go to Access Denied
--- Well HP is updating their website which I suppose Access Denied show up here but it still worked for me to recognize my HP laptop.
--- Let it identify your HP Pavilion 23.

Run each one of the following options
1. HP PC Hardware Diagnostics. I know you ran startup diagnostics but please run this HP PC Hardware Diagnostics just the same.
2. Operating System check which checks your Windows 10,
3. Performance Tune-Up Check which is designed to Optimize your system (Make sure to include the additional options).

Take your time and record whatever they fix or even can’t fix.
--- Record each issue, result and/or error codes if applicable.

There are more options and troubleshooting guides if you want to look into them.

Bottom line is let’s be optimistic and look forward to recommendations for a successful outcome.

I use Opera, Firefox & Edge. Each one to my particular need.

I have Ublock Origin & FVD downloader installed on Edge (and both others) just fine...….
