deleting items from a drop down list

after i have "moved" or "copy to" many files, the drop down menu shows the folders/files i have pinned to quick access, and then shows a long list of other places i have sent files/folders to. is there any way to edit this list so only very recent items show up?

Sorry, I'm probably missing something obvious: which drop down menu from where exactly?

    Thanks.

If you are referring to the recent files list, then check out tutorials. You can modify the list the same way

i am referring to the drop down menu that displays when one clicks on the "move to" or "copy to" items in the file explorer organization tab. it remembers so many of the past choices; i would like to whittle it down to just the places i copy/move files to.

Ah, something I don't use.. 'cos I have favourite lists etc by other means.

As far as I can see right now, the list is the default library folders + anything else pinned in Quick Access.
So you can unpin items in Quick Access if you wish to reduce the list.

As you mention you see a lot more, perhaps there's another source that contributes to the list, perhaps frequently used folders.

i do know that i can unpin items from the quick access. it's all the myriad other files that show up below the pinned items that i want to be able to select and delete. there are far more files named than in the recent folders display. and the list just keeps getting longer....

Oh, that list. Admit, I've never used it before.
You can clean the list by resetting File Explorer history. Only pinned (to Quick Access) locations will remain.

Glad I could help And Brink has wonderful tutorials ..You'll have to reset that list once in a while, when it becomes too long.
