Which model of laptop do you have? Generally W10 is pretty good at running on older laptops, having said that the ASUS drivers do not get updated very well for W10 so that may be why you are having problems.
It was like that with their Netbooks and the Intel Atom drivers, when 8 came out. Asus has been really bad about not keeping up.

I got an email for a Lenovo Quad Core for under $300, from my weekly Newegg emails. Not bad for a unit that cost close to $600 a year ago.

Can't you go back to 7 or 8.1 or to wherever you came from. This is another sad Win10 story and confirms my strategy to avoid 10 like the plague.

From my research into how to solve these problems, I'm finding that I'm far from the only one having these problems. And not just on Asus laptops. Right now it seems as though I have two options. Buy a new laptop or wait for the class action suit and hope I'm included.
What research and from where? No one has yet to buy a new computer to run Windows on, unless the manufacturer or Microsoft no longer supports the chipsets for the computer.

Yes. You just reinstall Windows 7 or 8. You cannot rollback after 30 days if you have 10 installed. This is why you always make an image backup of your hard drive. I use Clonezilla if I am doing an OS test on one of my systems.

Do a clean install of Windows 10.

I did an upgrade on a Windows 7 computer "ASUS M4A88T-M Motherboard, and the sound drivers did not upgrade with the system because they were incompatible, and trying to uninstall the old drivers and installing the Windows 10 drivers would cause the system to lockup.

I did a clean install and everything installed perfectly with no lockups.

We are currently using Windows 7 on the computer at the moment due to program compatibility issues.
