What I want in an OS

IF Microsoft were to ask me what I want in an OS, it would be the following...
Give me the choice to COMPLETELY decide what I want and don't want.
And an explanation of why I can't refuse some particular feature.
This would make me very happy. But alas it will never happen
    I can dream can't I?

What would you like in the OS?? You can post your ideas to the feedback and if enough people agree with you there is a chance you might see your ideas implemented,

Jack, why not tell Microsoft directly what you want?

Just click on the Windows Feedback icon in the Start menu, then tell them what you just told us. As Jeff said, if enough of us ask for it, we may just get it.

Windows Feedback is just a simplified way of filing a bug or suggestion like we did back when Previews were called Beta Test.

Yes, give me what I want . . . I would love that, but it's not always possible. Although I don't pretend to understand coding and the process of building an OS, in the years I've been beta testing (24 plus), I have learned a lot about what Microsoft can and cannot do on a particular product, be it an OS, Microsoft Office, etc. Just as I have to give and take, so does Microsoft.

My mama always told me I couldn't have my cake and eat it too. Neither can Microsoft. Believe me when I say that Microsoft will try to please the vast majority of us and a few (not a minor amount) of us will never be pleased. Neither will Microsoft be completely pleased. When I beta tested Windows Vista, it was no sooner released to market when a "dogfood" version of Windows 7 was offered to me. Dogfood is pretty much pre-alpha or alpha; beta comes when it's somewhat stable.

What we can do is take what we like and work with that. Click on the Start button>Insider Hub Tile and you'll be taken there. Start reading and you'll find "Cortana issues and workaround". (I'm gonna read this one for sure) Lots more info there. At the bottom right of the top section you'll see: So what do you think of this build? in bright blue. Click on it and tell them!

Find other threads in these forums that you may need to read. Start threads such as this one, but be specific. What don't you like? What do you feel isn't complete? What would you like to see? I could go on, but you get the idea.

I have found things I was quite unhappy with and posted about them (in various forums) only to find out there was a solution I was totally unaware of. I have made statements that I thought were correct, only to be told I was wrong (that stings!). Bottom line, ask and a solution just might appear.

BTW, just because I've been told I was wrong, that is not always true. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Send feedback. There are a few things I wanted to see (haven't seen them yet , but still plenty of time) so I sent feedback. They won't know what you'd like if you don't tell them, and if there are more people that have similar requests, I'd imagine they'd at least entertain looking into the idea

You know the old saying, be careful what you wish for...

You really have no idea what you're asking for... You would basically be turning Windows into the configuration nightmare of Linux.

I know lots of people here Like Linux, but I don't think anyone can honestly say they think it's easier to configure than Windows or MacOS, particularly for non-technical people.

    No thank you.

There's a reason (well, many reasons really) why Linux continues to maintain it's 1% share on the desktop.

I sorry Mystere I do have an idea of what I am talking about. Been in the business for over 40 years.
Including IBM mainframes. I was able to select some portions of Windows 3.1 and it worked very
well for me. Like why do I need the baggage of hundreds of languages when I only need English.
That would be the 1st to go. My idea would make windows more streamlined with less bloat.
I've seen all this before many times and Microsoft keeps on doing the same thing. They could care
less about the people out here.
    You stated I just responded......
As far as Linux goes I would switch in a minute if it wasn't so bad. Tons of chiefs and few Indians.
Then there is the god awful Grub to deal with. That needs a good book for Dummies. The Linux
people expect one to learn that piece meal I guess. Poor way to learn IMHO.

pretty sure you started the thread , and I think you are taking some comments the wrong way .
like this one[You really have no idea what you're asking for] what your asking for not what your talking about .
still don't think you really said what you want in a os ,except not bloat ,and one language .

As far as Linux goes I would switch in a minute if it wasn't so bad
wouldn't we all ,especially for the price ,then there is always Mac ,and it actually is a lot easier than Linux use

Give me the choice to COMPLETELY decide what I want and don't want.
and if we all had that choice ,imagine the bloat that would cause

And an explanation of why I can't refuse some particular feature.
I think most can be disable or hidden so there are nowhere to be seen ,.
