1. Please understand not everyone uses Macrium or any 3rd party of that kind.
2. Clean Install is not party of the equation. You offer a better choice but that is not my question.
My question is strictly on ..............
I just want to know what if I do need a repair install and I do use the Upgrade Now option.
Do I get Win 10 Home or Win 10 Pro after repair install ?
That is all I would like to know.
And this is what I would like to know toooo!!! But from what I was reading in another thread, this link does not require the user to download any iso.... how it works, I'm still trying to figure that out myself. Also like I said earlier so is Brink, as he does not understand what this NEW link does exactly either, and said he was going to run some tests on this new link himself to find out what it does exactly ....
On a Windows 10 system, Upgrade Now link will do exactly the same thing as the rollout of the November update did via Windows update. On a Windows 7/8/8.1 system, the Upgrade Now link will do exactly the same thing as the Get Windows 10 update from Windows update does.
Personally, I don't like letting Microsoft do everything for me. I like downloading the ISO, making sure it is complete and not corrupted, and then doing the upgrade myself. Some people with less technical experience or desire prefer one click solutions.
My guess would be the upgrade uses the underlying edition to determine which to install unless there is a key in the firmware.
Thus if a Win 8 Core key is in the firmware it will "upgrade" to Home, otherwise the current edition.
