OK. You do not give us any "background" information so I have to ask.

    Question :
Does this problem began recently or since day one you installed Windows 10 ?
If it was a recent issue, do a system restore, pick a date when you did NOT have this problem as your restore point.

or maybe identify the 3rd party app that may have caused it, if it was an issue with photo viewer ,we would have the issue to I think.

did you try changing the default apt that open these files .right click the file and choose open with ,and pick another in the list

It's not a "fix," but if it's recent, and if you've enabled it, maybe System Restore can get you back? (Not sure if this was recent or not)

    Edit:
(Just saw that it was already mentioned above- sorry.)

So, what is the problem then? It looks like your image files got somehow associated with some weird application icon. Just re-associate them with the application that you want to use as photo viewer, and the icon should change back to normal. (Since it worked with VLC.)

Yea but the Windows picture viewer is associated with this weird image.

And? What's weird about it? What if your re-associate your image files with standard "Photos" app?
