The Get Windows 10 App, is telling me the Media Center will be uninstalled when I upgrade to Windows 10 as it's no longer supported. It doesn't get much more official than that.

Also Media Center can play DVD's. Media Player, can't.
Yes, it can. But it doesn't come with a DVD codec by default. You can install a codec that allows Windows Media Player to play DVD's.

This seems to be a problem with OHIO guide data, as several other OHIO residents have mentioned it. Try using a different, but local zipcode.
Thanks for reply. Another thread talks about ZIP codes that do work in the Columbus Ohio area. 43210 and 43221

My Media centers wouldn't e upgrading to Windows 10 as a result. My tablets will also be sticking with WIn 8.1. Just my laptop will be updated because it isn't touchscreen and I don't use WMC on it. WMC is my PVR for cable tv using a cablecard.

I am not sure why anyone would be using WMP but you can simply install lav codecs. It should play DVDs but I can't tell you the last time I used one. The best thing is to install something like VLC, Kodi, or Media Player Classic.

WMP uses whatever codecs are installed in the system. So no, WMP doesn't have downloadable codec's, Windows does.

K-lite is a set of codecs, for instance.
