And now that I've mentioned it, of course it doesn't do it anymore. Sheesh!

I posted this before - not sure where.

If you go to update.microsoft.com and accept the control, this might clear up some of the Windows Update issues.

Mark Phelps - most of the notifications are just notifications. You can dismiss them X, but that's about it. I've only had about three 'live' notifications, mostly from the insider program "How easy was ..." - those I could click on and select radio buttons 1 though 5 on the 'survey' window that opened.

If you right click on the Action Center (Notifications) icon in the system tray, you say that there is NOT a turn Notifications on (or off depending on the current state). What is the setting in Settings -> System -> Notifications & actions
Is the topmost Notifications slider ON or OFF?

What edition is installed? Insider Pro or TechNet Enterprise?
    Computer properties says?

That makes sense, Caper, but with no ID, who's to know which update was successful?

Good to know Bill. I will probably use it later, but for now I'll keep the annoying thing. Right now I'm getting gigantic notifications that stay on for so short a time they're not readable, but get in my way. I know I can change how long they last, but most are email notifications, which I really don't need. I'll read email when I get ready.

    Go to Settings/Update & Recovery/Advanced options/View your update history/click on 'Successfully installed......'

Nope. All I get is Open Action Center and Hide Notifications (for different time intervals).
What is the setting in Settings -> System -> Notifications & actions? Is the topmost Notifications slider ON or OFF?
If you're asking about the Show app notifications setting, that is ON

Sorry Mark, the recent rollup from MS changed the Action Center right click options - what you state is what I see also.

Same thing for Settings -> notifications & apps - the name (possibly the function) changed with the rollup

Thanks for the other information too - we're running the same editions - both Insider Pro. I wanted to rule out the issue being a difference (Pro v Enterprise).

Things are in flux so expect the Action Center and Notifications to change in every build. I thought you might have a setting off but MS changed the right click options for the Action center. Sorry about that.

This might only be an expectations issue - where you expect some or all notifications to be actionable. They're not all actionable, some are just notifications. From your perspective, you haven't seen ANY that are actionable - is that correct? If I read your posts correctly, your concern is that this is useless or isn't working properly.

Try to force an actionable notification. Launch the Insider Hub app and under We need your help, complete the tasks - do the ones you want and press done. This used to push a notification to the action center, it might no any longer.

If I come across a test that does set an actionable notification, I'll PM you so you can try it and see if it works on your machine.
