My granddaughter was over to do some homework a couple days ago and I notice today that splwow.exe is still running using 12.5 % of CPU. This is easy to stop, just log out and back in but is there another way to get this file to stop after it is used all by itself?
edit...I do have the latest drivers for my printer.

I'm not sure if this was for the same .exe you were asking about, however it does mentioned printing, so I'm assuming so. The reason I say this is because the file name is a bit off and I did note that you actually have two different ones listed, (splwow.exe / syswow.exe) however I'm guessing that was a typo?Splwow64.exe is a core Windows process and shouldn’t be causing any problems on your computer. It can be disabled or removed, however doing so will cripple your computer’s ability to print from 32-bit applications. This process is safe and best left alone.

So, it sounds as if you can disable it if you wanted to, however this might affect some printing down the line.

Yes that is the file. It will stay on until I shutdown or log off and I am hoping someone will know how I can encourage the file to close itself after one is done using it. The collage forces my granddaughter to use Firefox to access their servers so she is using a 32 bit program to print on my 64 bit computer. And my drivers are all up to date. I just checked them a while back.
