Lady F, the doc said it went well, the day of surgery I could walk without pain, just sore. This morning it was good for awhile, now it is severe, but hopefully it will heal in time.

... By the way I am probably the oldest PC user in this forum. I was 78 last month. Right now I feel like I am 100, but hopefully the surgeon will fix that problem tomorrow. I have a torn meniscus, the pain is so bad when stand up it makes me want to scream. Right now I am sooooo thirsty, no water until after surgery.

Glad to hear that your surgery went OK. I had the medial meniscus removed from my left knee in 1973 so I know a bit about what you're going thru. I was 20 at the time so probably had an easier recovery time than someone at your age. The Dr originally told me I would need to use a cane to walk with for 6 months but I left the hospital walking without any assistance. Just make sure you follow the physical therapy they give you.

    Good luck.

Thanks for your kind words. So far it is not quite as bad as it was before surgery. I am sure this therapy will be painful. I had a spiral break in my humorous a couple of years ago. It broke in 3 places and it took around 3 months to heal I found out quickly we don't heal as well as we did years ago. Therapy was a breeze for that, but it was not a weight bearing problem. I will follow through with therapy, it is only for 2 weeks.

I think the too long, didn't read of this thread is; if you're a luddite against new features and are not entertained by them, Windows 10 isn't your cup of tea. If you like new features and can see the worthwhileness of them, go to 10.

WHS, I have wayyyy to much free time and I enjoy setting up it gives me something to do. When the time comes to install my 20+ games, I bring a good book in here and read while they install. I am not saying my way is the best for you all, it is for me.

You are indeed a few months older than me. I wish you lots of luck with the surgery. I know the pain. Both my knees should be done but as long as I can still walk, I will avoid surgery.

It is funny that you like reinstalls. I hate them. I have 7 systems and I do a lot of 'experiments' that brick the systems. If I had to reinstall each time I would not have enough time to eat, LOL.
Sometimes a re-install is better as Windows tends to run slower with time; a re-install focuses the mind to install just those programs that you actually need & not to 'bloat' the OS unnecessarily.

I broke a bone in my foot few weeks ago while simply walking down the sidewalk and currently have a cast on my foot. The Dr said if I was 14, it would take 2 months for that bone to heal, but would take longer than that at my age.

All good wishes to you with your convalescence.
Regarding age you are not alone in this forum, I was 78 last December, you are never too old to learn and accept new technology no matter what age.

I'm glad the surgery went wekk for your! I'm only 65 and know all too well what you mean by not healing as well we did years ago. I had three foot surgeries around eighteen years ago and bounced back fairly well then (although I was never 100% better after that but that was due to the nature of the problem: congenital, hereditary foot deformities). Now, I don't bounce; I just go plop!

Seriously, even at your age, you should heal fine, even if it does take longer, as long has you take the therapy seriously. Hang in there!

What is it about people assuming people are luddites when they don't automatically embrace all new technology, especially when it doesn't benefit them? Based on your comment, I assume you bought into laser discs and Betamax, too.
