Unexplained PC Reboot (Kernel-Power 41 (63) Error)

My PC will randomly reboot when in the middle of any video game. It has not happened while I am not in a game (from what I can remember). It goes to a straight black screen, so no BSOD.

My CPU is running no hotter than 45 Celsius. It has only happened after being ran for 2 hours or more. There is NO error message upon shutdown/reboot, and I also ran a virus scan with MalwareBytes and found nothing. Event Viewer shows the "Kernel-Power 41 (63)" error.

After the reboot, it goes to my lock screen with no error message. It also loads everything on my desktop/taskbar abnormally slow.

The only thing new before the issue:
-Gigabyte Gaming 7 Motherboard
-Intel i7 4790k
-NZXT Phantom 530 (Case)
-Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (CPU Cooler)

My PC Specs are as follows:

CPU: i7 4790k
Motherboard: Gigabyte Gaming 7
Ram: G.Skill Ripjaws X-Series 16GB (8GBx2) 1600mhz
GFX: EVGA GeForce GTX 670 FTW 4GB D5
PSU: InWin 850w Bronze
HDD: Western Digital Blue 1TB 7200 RPM
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB
Monitor: 3 ASUS 24" (One is 144hz, Two are 60hz)

If there is any info I missed/you need please let me know and I will supply it ASAP. I would greatly appreciate any and all help.

Hello Outgoingjake and welcome to the Forums. Until someone comes along with some better ideas, try uninstalling all Gigabyte Utilities you have installed. They often cause all kinds of problems.

Thank you for at least trying to help. When I installed all drivers from my motherboard CD, I didn't choose any of the Utility programs. I only chose what was absolutely necessary, so I don't believe that is the issue.

Again, although, thank you for trying. Hopefully my issue is resolved soon, it is annoying to have my PC reboot in the middle of playing a game! :)

I was curious about that error message so I did some checking.

As suspected, there were MANY suggestions, but one indicates that it might be a sound driver issue. See HERE.

Long shot, but I wanted to pass it along just in case, as several sites indicated drivers as the possible culprit.

Thank you very much for the reply. I followed the link and used the program they linked to update all of my drivers. Unfortunately, I have JUST replaced (literally 20 minutes ago) my PSU. Because of this, I will not know whether or not the audio driver issue fixes my issue.

The program however, gave me multiple OBSOLETE driver issues, including at least one that it stated was over NINE YEARS OLD.

I hope this post can help others in distress with this same error.
If the new PSU/Driver Updates fix my issue, then I will be sure to update everyone.

If it doesn't, well, I won't be very happy. lol

So - my issue seems to have been fixed. I cannot confirm whether or not it was the PSU or Drivers, unfortunately.

If anyone with this issue does come across this topic, update your drivers first to see if that fixes the problem. If it doesn't; then the new PSU must have done it.

In my case, I had to change my "PCI Express" power savings to "off" and Hard disk to "Never" turn off inside Advance settings of "Power options". Hope someone finds this useful.
