Windows 10 locks up (no BSOD though) - takes down router

    Hi

I'm not sure this is the right section of the forum to post, but I'm hoping someone can help me with a strange issue I'm having with windows 10.

Every 2/3 days the system will lock up with no output to the monitor. This also causes my router to stop serving an internet connection to all devices.

A hard reset of the windows 10 PC brings it back and the router continues serving an internet connection again (no restart of the router required).

There is nothing in the windows event logs indicating anything unexpected happening before the lock-up. (Only "The previous system shutdown at 10:21:47 on ‎04/‎01/‎2016 was unexpected" upon restart).

This has started happening after upgrading from windows 7. The system was fine for well over 2 years with Windows 7. I tried a fresh installation of Win10 hoping this would solve it, but the issue has reoccurred.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? Taking down the router sounds like its a network related issue perhaps.

    Thanks for help

    Same issue

Did you ever find a solution?

I have a very similar issue with five Windows 10 machines at multiple locations, but no common denominator for equipment other than the PCs themselves; I have over 250 of the same PCs, but yet only 5 have the issue. They only bring down anything else connected to the switch. All other machines on the LAN connected to other switches are not affected. It's as if the particular machine floods the switch, bringing down that part of the network. I see nothing n the event logs.

I am necroing this thread because I have the exact same problem: Windows 10 PC, connected via a switch to a router and NAS. Lots of other devices elsewhere on the LAN but at other points with different switches.

Every few days I find the PC with a blank screen, no input from mouse/keyboard. The router is usually frozen, not crashed, it will often recover after a few attempts but in the meantime it is completely non-functioning. The NAS runs linux so its not easily affected but I usually find that its been kicked out of the network.

Devices in ohter parts of on the LAN are fine.

I'm so fed up with this, I'm actually thinking of downgrading to Windows 7 via an image backup.

Does anyone have any idea what could be happening?
