Windows 10 Freezing and now even freezing on boot up.

So I've recently bought a gaming package which had pre picked pc products to be built for me, as I do not know much about computers. This came with windows 8.1 pre installed.

After having the pc for about a week it asked me if i wanted to upgrade to windows 10 for free, which i proceeded to do with no issues and it ran fine.

However, I went to shut my pc down and it only gave me the option to shut down and update, which was fine by me. It updated and the next two days my pc froze while i was on it, forcing me to turn it off via the power. But after it did that it would just turn on normally.

Now it has gotten to the stage where it freezes whenever it tries to start up windows and won't even boot up properly. It gets past the asus screen and begins loading windows and freezes. The longer i leave my computer the longer it gives me before it freezes once i turn it on. Every second boot failure it attempts to repair itself but even freezes when doing that. I know its the issue with windows as i can enter the bios settings when the asus logo comes up and I can edit the computer settings from there, just not the operating system. I've tried to boot via the installation disk but it even freezes then, which i think it may be because I have windows 10 and its a windows 8.1 disk, not sure. I've gotten to the stage in the repair where it has given me troubleshoot options but i need to be fast to click the right options. I think i saw an option to revert to an older version but instead I clicked the attempt system repair or something. Which then told me it could take up to an hour to fix and froze while attempting the diagnostic. I've googled it many times and it seems people do have the same issue as me after the update but they can actually get further into the start up.

I'm not great with computer stuff but I do know the minimum. I'm not sure about what specs of my computer you need to know but I do still have the receipt of the purchase so if you have any queries about what pieces I have let me know and I will share. Please help, it is frustrating as hell not being able to do anything.

    Thanks

Ok try going to your command prompt (Admin) and type this command in and see what it reports to you.
    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Press enter after putting this command in....

Also Welcome to Windows 10 Forum!! :)

I can't even start up my computer, when I turn it on it has the asus logo and says f2 or del to enter bios, has the windows logo pop up and as the three white dots appear to start spinning round they freeze.

It should have booted from your installation disk, even if you have windows 10 installed. Try going back into your bios and check your boot order. Make your DVD drive 1st......or if your using a USB disk, make that 1st in your boot order, then put in your disk, and reboot, and see if that works.

I've tried doing that too, the disk drive makes a loud noise as though its trying to read the disk and it still freezes. I've got two disks, one for 32 bit and 64 bit. I'm just assuming that its 64 bit though, as I said not too great with computers aha.

This is beginning to sound like a hardware problem with your computer. You said its new, maybe you can call whoever made your computer, and get some Free support from them??

But I have had no issues until this latest update, I've read that other people have been having the freezes as well, so I'm assuming it is the operating system. I'll try again with booting from the disk and the reverting to an earlier model in the morning and hope for the best. I'll keep you informed. Thanks

Not being able to even use your boot installation DVD is why I think it sounds like hardware issue. You should be able to boot from ANY bootable dvd disk without any problem. As it is accessing the DVD drive and not your hard drive. You seem to have another computer available to you, as you are on here. Try using any bootable dvd disk that you know works on the computer you are using now.....then take that dvd disk and try booting it from your new computer, just to check your new computers dvd drive. If your new computer does not boot any dvd bootable disk, then you do have a hard ware problem, with the new computer.
