Observant ! One issue i had was with Desktop icons only for PC games would at times shrink smaller and were not small resolution icons either, i remedied it by changing it's default icon to another .ico i found online for the game and it only happened to some game icons.

Good advice the Edwin's first post, but too late for me as I have already changed everything in AppData and ProgramData folders (except metroapps, administrative tools and 3 or 4 that cannot move). The reason was to order the StartMenu to my taste without the A-B-C... horrible things (see picture).

The problem occurs with all programs. For example, today I downloaded 7-zip and the error message appeared when I moved the shortcut from ProgramData to AppData.

Well, at the moment seems is not an important problem, so I'll wait.

Thank you all for the help and comments, very interesting and instructive.Small problem changing shortcuts in start menu-zxc.jpg

Looks like went 0-9 on those instead of A B C . I like alphabetical order. Maybe need third party app and more suggestions from Edwin. Should have no issue renaming or removing third party software

    @ nabucco:
    for your 7zip problem:
create a folder in App Data with the exact same name as the one in Program Data and put the 7zip shortcut in it, (or vise versa, which ever applies), then all shortcuts in those twin folders will show up in one folder of the same name in the Start Menu.

jds 63: is my desired order, each folder with similar applications inside.

Edwin: I understand. But I have not a folder "7-Zip". 7-Zip is in a folder ("25 Herramientas varias" in the picture) along with 20 other applications.

    Okay, two questions:
    - where does that "25 Herramientas varias" folder reside right now, and,
    - where did you take the 7-Zip shortcut from originally?

You have to create twin folders in each directory and put the respective shortcuts in each respective directory in their respective folders. DO NOT move them out of their respective directories!

    1) Is a subfolder of AppData....\Start Menu\Programs (same as the other folders in the image)

    2) 7-Zip installation created a folder "7-Zip" in ProgramData\...\Start Menu\Programs with two shortcuts. I moved the 7-Zip.exe shortcut to "25 Herr..." and then deleted the other shortcut (do not remember the name, perhaps "Help") and the folder.

EDIT: You write very fast: I was answering post #17
