    IconCache.db is missing

    Hello,

I tried to rebuild by icon cache but I can't find the file IconCache.db in C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Local
    (hidden items are turned on)

The reason I'm rebuilding icon cache is because all of my icons are gone, in desktop, control panel, folders.... (all that appears are the names) and I'm thinking it's because IconCache.db is not there. I've restarted my computer and even did system restores but IconCache.db is still missing and my Icons are still messed up.

Is there any way to force windows 10 to build a new IconCache.db?

    Please Help

That's the problem... I never even deleted it. I've rebooted many times and it still isn't there.

Yes, I've seen the tutorial but like I said, the IconCache.db isn't there...

I have been having issues with my icons as well. The shortcut arrow comes and goes and is sometimes replaced with other symbols. I've been dealing with it by refreshing the desktop but it is annoying. I too do not have a IconCache.db file located in the local folder. I do have a number on iconcache files in C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\windows folder. I don't know if that is why Windows isn't displaying them properly or if that is where Microsoft moved the .db files. See attached screen shot.
