Already tried that. I've fully removed the display drivers using DDU from Guru3D, plus performed an in-place upgrade using the Windows Media Creation Tool. But still the grey screen remains, so i'm totally perplexed.

It doesn't seem to affect the performance of the OS, and I don't actually have any difficulties shutting down or restarting my rig. But I've been lead to believe that grey is a bad thing and indicates something's not quite right, so i'd like to get to the bottom of what's causing it. The Windows 10 anniversary upgrade isn't far off, so maybe that will iron out whatever the illusive issue is that's causing this problem.
