"Choose an option" menu appears on clicking restart

    Hi there,

It used to be when I press the power button, followed by the restart option, my PC will immediately perform the restart action.

However, not sure when it began, now when I click the power button, followed by the restart option, the "Choose an option" menu appears instead. I then have to select the first option "Continue - Exit and continue to WIndows 10", thereafter which my PC will restart as required.

It is a minor irritation, but does anyone knows how to turn this behavior off?

    Thank you in advance.

Hello and welcome to the tenforums :)

What you are seeing is the special restart option that you get when holding down the shift key and clicking restart. It is possible you have a shift key stuck on but I am sure you would notice this because you would be typing in capitals. Anyway, worth checking to make sure you are not accidentally using a shift + click. Sometimes this can happen if you have sticky keys activated via the Ease of Access centre, so I guess this would be the next thing to check out.

    Hi philc43,

    Thanks for your advice!!!

Basically I turned off my keyboard, but the behavior is still the same.
Checked ease of access, nothing wrong there.

Appreciate if anyone can tell me if there's anything else to check.

    Thanks again!
