"Administrators" does have full control. I don't know what the difference is between all the different possible owners, to be honest.

But the "Attributes" option still doesn't appear, just the Default and FolderValueFlags

Attributes should have been there by default, so that means it had been manually deleted at some point.

You will just need to add Attributes.

Right click in the right pane of the ShellFolder key, click on New and DWORD (32-bit) Value, type Attributes for the name of the DWORD, and press Enter.

Afterwards, you should be able to do the steps in the tutorial to change the data value of Attributes to b094010c.

OK, that seems to have worked, thanks.

Of course, now my desktop "PC" icon has gone. I have a shortcut there, but it keeps being relegated to last place on the desktop for some reason, even though I disabled the "autoarrange" option. I don't know why these options are there if they don't work. The "ENG" icon keeps coming back and I've removed that 2 different ways.

I appreciate the help people have tried to give me.

But I'll be changing back to Win7 as soon as I can find my install disks.

I shouldn't need 3rd party apps and weird registry changes to make simple display option changes, which were simple in Win7, I shouldn't need to continually make changes that Win10 keeps reverting every time I reboot, such as a boot-up display picture, yes I know it's minor but Win7 didn't do this. And I don't trust that future windows updates won't screw with things like "Classic Shell" in any case. And I don't like Windows continually trying to push inferior windows products on me when I have better programs, such as Picasa. Why would they program it so that I can't delete start menu items? Seriously, that's annoying.

I haven't noticed any speed improvements, and I'm not intending to get a touch screen, so I can't see any reason to keep Win10.

No, because I have to do it every time I open a folder!

And it doesn't solve the other problems. Why do my desktop icons auto-sort when I've disabled autosort, for eg?

Why does the language "ENG" icon appear when I've repeatedly turned it off?

etc but you get the idea. These didn't happen in Win7 which seems to mean Win10 programmers deliberately changed them
