I upgraded two computers from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I just noticed today that a right click in a folder does not have anything other than New Folder under New. Windows 7 had several choices (Folder,Shortcut,Rich Text Document, Text Document, Wave Sound and more).
My wife's W8 works properly and a W7 VM works properly.
Does anyone know what is going on?

I had the same problem which resisted the early REG file fixes. Resolved it by renaming and refreshing a key, then running the REG file fixes. Problem seems to have been caused by NotePad++.
1. Mike's Draft Article Bin
Rename the [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.txt] to [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.txt2] and refresh, the original key will be recreated.

Download and run Restore_New_Rich_Text_Document_context_menu_item.reg
