That is true. All Windows programs are fine but with OEM programs you may have problems if you make the wrong color choice. But if you cannot see things with a standard theme, you don't have many options. Operating with the Magnifier all the time is dull.

i for example run Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, on one of my Desktops, and i can with a simple log out, use other desktops,Unity, gnome classic flashback,XFCE,Mint, and so on,all this can be previous downloaded from the Ubuntu Software center,if MS could do this then most complains would just vanish, we all know well, even with these options still there will be people complaining, there are few people that don't want to move a muscle to make Software configurations,want everything done on Plug&Play,and there are those that enjoy play around with software,myself i like plug&play,the only difference i don't complain much.

The magnifier is only good up to a certain point then you start getting artifacts and...oh Hell! My eyes are not as bad as yours, but my 2 favorite hobbies (other than listening to music) are reading books(any book I can get my hands on) and PCs, so I'm pretty near sighted 20/200. Lately I've started getting a problem with light on dark & dark on light contrast. For example when I look at the moon I see the moon as a solid(normal) but there's a light ghost immediately overlapping slightly to the left of it. And that's only using one eye. So for windows I keep the backlight on my HDTV as low as possible and set Gamma to 2.2 and warmth to 6400K to relieve eyestrain.

I don't have a problem with Magnifier artifacts. I use it as shown on the picture. But I am extremely light sensitive and dureing the day I always wear dark glasses - even if the sun does not shine which is rare here in Florida. To see things I ned contrast. That's why the high contrast themes are so good.

You have an example of a program that does not work with the chosen theme in Mint. I would like to try it out.
