Dissapointed but not suprised.

The Reason
I don't understand why people who hate the Metro Tiles don't just delete them all.
If people delete them all (in W8) then how would they run anything?
They'd have to use Search, activate "All Apps" or go to the file location.
I like Metro. I always did. I don't see why Microsoft needs to do away with something just to mollify a few loud complainers.
A "few loud complainers"?
It is the single most hated feature of the W8 series.
No other item is mentioned anywhere near as often (maybe the hidden controls).
I suspect that it is "The Reason" that the W8 series has such sluggish sales.
So far, Windows 10 is too much like Windows 7 for my liking.
That's the whole point.
MS wants businesses (the market sector that generates MS' income) to use W10.
Businesses seem to have little interest in the W8 series.
I suspect that MS has noticed that their licensed business users convert their new W8 PCs to W7 (as soon as they get them).
That said:
Having the choice to set W10 up the way each user wants, would be a good thing IMHO.
Both options (Menu & Screen) must
be available and easy to access and configure.

Interesting comment. I actually like the tiles too but I still think Windows 7 rules.

...just to mollify a few loud complainers.
A few loud complainers..?? Must be that new math.
Here, lemme help. Start with the number of people who actually bought 8/8.1. Ok, not too many so it's a small number.
Now subtract from that the number of folk who installed 8/8.1, but eliminated all things metro. A quick look at any random sampling of forums would suggest that that amount is at minimum 50%.
Now, take that 50%, and add it to the vast majority that avoided 8/8.1 like the plague and you quickly realize that the, how did you put it..??
Oh yea, the "Few loud complainers" is not quite accurate. What you mean to say, is the vast and overwhelming majority.
Let's be honest here. If metro had been even a modest success ms would never be doing such an about face. You can bet your bottom dollar on that.

Windows 7 = Ancient tech
Windows 8.1 = Modern, quick tech
Windows 10 = Step backwards
IMO, of course.

You are right at least as far as the start menu goes. This hybrid is a real pita. Fortunately we can toggle the 8.1 start. For the rest, I like 10.

So true.

As far as the Start Menu or Start Screen goes, the options to modify them to every ones tastes are absolutely possible; MS just needs to implement them!
Third party apps have given the ability for a while already.

Interesting... I think I can agree up to the Win 10 part. From what I see so far it's an improvement. Well, for desktop users at least, like me. I use apps in Win8.1.1 and Win10 but I don't find any need to access the Start Screen,, well not all that much. I might go there once in the blue moon.
So far I really do like Win10 and I plan on upgrading/buying a copy when it comes out next year.
My 2c, YMMV
