Mine only shows ticks for read & execute and read which seems wrong to me.
You could try ticking full control and see if that helps.
Um... Why would you want Full Control over the executable file of regedit itself??? Why does Read & Execute seem wrong to you?

Replaced regedit.exe with an old one and it's working again. I think it's incredible that these blatant problems get through Microsoft's testing and then they linger for so long before finally getting fixed, if ever.

    Come on Microsoft!

This problem still continues on Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 11082 ...
I cannot replace regedit.exe because I do not have the ISO (of that first release).

Another reason why I have never used regedit that come with Windows. I bought Registry Workshop years ago, and its still runs rock solid. :)

I had to go to an older laptop that hasn't updated yet and is still on 10240 to get the file.

    This worked 12-10-15
    Try
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:WIM:E:\sources\install.wim:1
    Version 10.0.10586 Build 10586

I also have this problem on Windows Insider Build 11082. I was able to find a build 240 version so I copied :

    Windows\regedit.exe
    Windows\en-US\regedit.exe.mui

to my data drive and was able to use that version as a workaround.

ive still got the same issue in version 10586.36, also ive used numerous different 3rd party registry editors and they still leave crap behind that windows registry editor picks up but the biggest chew is its a single search find and keep F3-ing = chew

    Try also freeware Registry Finder
Excellent replacement (despite its name has also all editor features you can look for), small and very fast searches... displays found results in a single tab.
