Win 10 Stuck-- Won't Install & No Desktop

My Win 10 began acting strange on my main drive. The drive began to show BSOD with a message about how "we will stop your system, we are just collecting data, but will restart the computer." Problem was the system stopped and did not restart unless I restarted at which point the system went back to blue screen. I am using MSI motherboard. System gets past the MSI boot part but stops at the BSOD part. In frustration, I tried another hard drive with Win 10 on the drive and got pretty much the same response. I have tried installing from a memory stick and the results are pretty much the same...no install. Now, I get to the Windows install screen requiring a driver but the driver is missing. With no desktop I am totally stuck in the mud. One question is whether I can just copy the installation files over to the hard drive in a normal copy routine without going through the normal install procedure? Cannot get to my version number...no desktop.

Hi, I guess you saw this BSOD message:
"Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart" error or "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you."

There can be many causes for this from hardware onwards:
Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart

Given the other things you've tried, this suggests the problem is not drive-related.

I suggest you create a live boot disk and see if you can boot your PC from that, and then run a memory test.
You would need access to another PC to create one- download an iso file for e.g. Hiren's, Bob Omb's etc- Google live boot disk and pick one- and then follow instructions on creating a bootable disk as per the tutorial to create a bootable disk to install Win 10 but using the iso file you've downloaded. (I.e. either using Rufus or an appropriate series of commands).

If your PC fails to boot from a valid live boot disk (check another PC boots from it successfully) and you have done the correct things to have it boot from such a disk, then you would appear to have a hardware problem.

Your MOBO seems to date from around 2013.

Thanks for the comment. I have looked at Hiren' s for just a minute. Do I download Win 10 again or use some other alternative? Thanks again.

Hi, not sure I understand- the two are quite different. If you already have a Win 10 bootable disk or iso file, no need to download another unless you think it's corrupt.

The iso file for some of these boot disks (e.g. Kyhi's, Hiren's, Gandalf's, Bob Omb's) - is based on a form of Win 10, but loads from the flash disk without using the internal disk and provides a set of built-in utilities as you've seen. So you download the iso file for that particular boot disk and create a bootable flash disk (or even a DVD) from it.

And there are Linux-based live boot disks too.

I downloaded an iso file, so I thought, from MS. However, when I viewed the USB stick contents I did not see any iso extension on any of the files. Then I also downloaded other install files from the media creation tool. Have I goofed in the download process? My system is a 32 bit not a 64. Does Hiren's act as a boot sequence before the Windows sequences?

Some of the directories appearing in my flash drive after the download are as follows:
BMP,boot, ChipSet, efi, Flash, Install,Lang, Network, OtherDriver, Product, Sound, sources, Storage, support, SVGA. Temp, Utility, WinXPPatcch

    Thanks again for the response.

A Win 10 bootable disk is a SEPARATE thing from a live boot disk such as Hiren's.

You need ONE flash drive for Win 10.
You need a SECOND flash drive for a live boot disk.

You use either one OR the other NOT both.

The first either installs Win 10 or allows limited maintenance actions (Advanced boot). It acts on your internal drive.

The second boots your PC up into a form of Win 10 WITHOUT using the internal drive, as I think I said.

Above I said - about created the bootable live boot disk:

and then follow instructions on creating a bootable disk as per the tutorial to create a bootable disk to install Win 10 but using the iso file you've downloaded. (I.e. either using Rufus or an appropriate series of commands)

Here is the tutorial for you:

Create Bootable USB Flash Drive to Install Windows 10

Using the iso file downloaded for your live boot disk use EITHER section 2,4, or 5

I don't have any desktop. Is there some way to get an emergency or temporary desktop?

    Thank you for your reply.

That's why it's handy to have a live boot disk ready. Part of your toolbox, as it were.

Perhaps you can ask a friend...

I don't always know what I am doing but I made a recovery drive on a usb stick and booted from the drive. However, I got the message under "Recover from a drive" with the message saying "There was a problem recovering your drive." So the recovery drive cannot recover. This looks like I am going to have to find another motherboard. I would like to find another A55M-E33 so all the parts I have will go into the newer board. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks again for your input.

Boot from your Recovery USB and copy your personal files from Users\[UserName] (ie) Desktop, Documents, Pictures etc and save them to another drive like a USB HDD. Then try to do a Clean Install
