Win Explorer is doing a refresh every 3 sec. when I rename a file

I have Windows 10 installed on 2 of my 3 computers. A 2 screen video editing machine that I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 works perfectly - I open Windows Explorer, I either hold the mouse over the left part of a file name, or right click on top of a file name for the dialog menu to come and then click rename, either way I am then able to rename the file to what I want.

But I re-installed (after the successful WIN7 upgrade) Windows 10 over Windows 8.1 on my main 27" HP and like it did the first time whenever I open a Windows Explorer program - whether from the taskbar or from a shortcut - and do the same to rename the file (either hold left or right mouse) so the filename is highlighted and as I start to retype the new file name it just automatically refreshes and reverts back to the original file name - very, very frustrating.

    Found the Answer

In Windows 10 the way to personalize the desktop has changed. If you were using a theme from Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 and you had the timing set for every 15 seconds to display the next image in the theme, then that would automatically trigger a refresh in Windows Explorer (why I do not know) which would immediately revert the new file name you were typing back to the previous.

Now if you right click on the desktop and select personalize, you get a whole new type of choices Background and Themes are the two that affect the refresh. Basically in Themes you CANNOT set the time of the change - whatever you brought over from Windows 7 or 8.1 will be the default.

I even tried the Windows 10 Theme and set the slide show (Under Backgrounds) to change every minute and the same refresh problem occurred in Windows Explorer when the minute was up.

So it is tied to the screen refresh and I am not sure how to rectify the problem. Any help will be appreciated.

    Solved

I've signed up here to say that i experience the exact same thing. Really annoying!

edit: Think i've found the culprit what is causing it (well, actually someone else has but i was lucky enough to find the thread).

http://forums.windowscentral.com/ask...ml#post3180772 and a possible solution (have to read the post first but was too excited and wanted to let you know it ASAP lol).

Yes! Turn off the automatic choosing of accent colours: Start Menu > Settings > Personalization > Colors

Hopefully a newer Windows build will change this behaviour

How to apply changes, you can't access the desktop or Explorer

    Hey guys,

All these solutions are great if you can right-click the desktop or go to Control Panel

What if the screen refresh is every couple of seconds, preventing that?

From Ctrl+Alt+Del I can access the Task Manager, and from there I can File -> Run any command line. But what's the command line to open the screen personalisation app?
