Forgot to mention, if you haven't already, set the one that works as main display and then + P and select PC Screen Only. That will prevent anything from opening on the missing phantom monitor.

yeah got that already thanks.. ill do a sfc scannow maybe this will help, otherwise i will try to somehow clean install windows 10 somehow.. i dont even know how to do that without windows screen, i also cannot reset windows via windows 10 option does not work somehow.. maybe iam missing some files, have you got any advice?
maybe i should try to reset the mainboard settings? F2, wait F9 -- Enter , F10 -- Enter?
i actually dont want to believe i fu**ed my graphiccard.. i really dont want to send it back and get a new one ~.~
If you move your current monitor connection to a different port on the video card, the BIOS POST screen should display. I would try the port where your original monitor was connected. Maybe try this, power down the PC. Unplug the power supply from the wall. Press and hold the power button for say 5 seconds. That will drain any residual power left in the power supply. Then plug back in and boot up. This will kill any leftover effects from a sleep or hibernate mode. Like Windows Fast Startup. That can cause weird things to happen because the PC doesn't fully shut down, it goes into a hybrid sleep mode. This will force a cold boot up.
Update your system specs. That may give us a better idea of how to help.
tried this one same problem as before.
i got this ones:
mainboard: asrock z97 extreme 4
graphic: gtx 980 palit super jetstream
ram: 16 gb
processor: intel i7 4790k
soundcard: creative sound blaster z
monitor: benq 2411z
1 ssd (with windows on it) 2 hdds for stuff
if you need any other information just ask
I don't see anything with your specs that would raise a red flag. You should be able to run two monitors just fine. If you have the manual for your motherboard, or can find one online take a look and see if there's settings in bios that affects the bios screen and/or turns off the internal graphics. You still should be able to go into your bios by hitting the appropriate key when you turn it on. That differs from bios to bios but I think its usually something like F12 or esc.
I think the Problem Is Not my Graphic Card , i already plugged in all Graphic Card slots with my Monitors dvi and hdmi but the Phantom Monitor still Shows up and if i unplug the Graphic Card and only connect the Monitor to motherboard the Phantom Monitor Is gone. There are Actually 3 possibilities:
- Its the Graphic Card
- its the motherboard
- its Windows
So someone Something Thinks that there Is a Monitor in the motherboard connected.
To me that strongly points to the motherboard or at least it's graphics chip. When u plug your monitor into the MB do you see the boot screen? Other than it just showing up is it causing any performance issues?
i see the boot screen if i unplug the graphic card and plug the monitor into the motherboard, then the phantom monitor is gone, guess because the real monitor is in its place then, i didnt have any performance issues, but i really want the boot screen on my real monitor somehow. dont know if resetting the motherboard would be any use or installing windows anew
I don't think it has anything to do with Windows. The bios screen comes on before Windows takes over. As I said earlier I like having a second monitor connected to my internal graphics. It always seems to work, and I can still navigate if my 970 fails for some reason. If you turn off the surround setting it will show the a screen on each monitor and you can still drag thing from one to the other. You might still be able to go into your bios and turn your internal gpu off if you really just want one screen.
