For me Windows 10 is the best that Microsoft ever delivered.

After I did Reset this PC when I had the blank screen problem after the initial W10 install (which probably wiped away some gunk left over from my W7 install), my 10 system has been speedy and trouble free...day after day since launch. Windows 10 makes Windows 7's performance on my machine look like it had the brakes on. And this is a 2 GB LAPTOP.

Of course, I have a pedestrian Dell laptop and not a deluxe gaming machine with a high-end graphics card, so my experience may not count.

I am also a new user with no affiliation with either Microsoft or this forum.

I also have went though several versions of Windows, XP, Vista, 7 and now 10. Every version started with it's challenges and tweaking's, all ended up performing as they should. Not to say 10 has not had not had it's challenges, but it that going to happen for any new operating system. Just the learning curve alone takes time. Good thing we have people on this forum willing and ready to help. Heck, they got me out of a couple of jam.

KasperKyd, I sympathize with you. It is truly frustrating to encounter so many problems with a new OS.

What I have found through painful experience is that the “awesome” desktop I put together employing the best possible components I could find at the time of the build, was a nightmare upgrading to Windows 10 and then maintaining stability. It was only after days of effort and using every trick I could think of and along with the wonderful assistance from forum members that I finally got Win 10 working properly on my desktop.

Conversely, I had absolutely no problem upgrading three different brands of laptops. The laptops were vanilla without any of my “improvements” differentiating them from my desktop. Each has been stable and runs like promised.

Now, after all of my pains, I am pleased with the operation of Windows 10 in all of my computers.

Having said this, I also criticize Microsoft for releasing Windows 10 with so many bugs still inherent in the OS. Not all users are technically expert or do they have the time to expend the effort required to make the OS work on many systems. After all, most people buy a computer with the thought that IT WILL WORK PROPERLY when first plugged into the wall. The same is true when a major player in computing releases a new operating system. Windows 10 has been a disappointment to many.’

It is not my purpose to be presumptuous with you but I suggest you recheck your drivers and app compatibilities. Windows 10 is a very good OS. If you can make your system work with it, you will be the winner in the end.

From a cost standpoint, the purchase price of this “free” upgrade cannot be beaten.

I keep hearing people talking of these 'bugs'. I myself have come across some of them, but they are so extremely minor as to be a non-issue. For example, in Edge, if you are on the new tab page (with all the news feeds), and you open one in a new tab, and open another in a new tab, the new one replaces the other one you had opened instead of just opening a total of two. I only experienced this once, thus a minor bug.

What major bug is there? My OS runs very smoothly provided the manufacturer is providing the right drivers.

I still think theirs a few little bugs.....but nothing real serious for me. I still think edge sucks.....until they make it a lot better, I will never use it. :)

I for 1 is starting to like Win10. At first no. I had Win7 and did the update and nothing but problems, mainly with DRIVERS. I reverted back to Win7 for about a month, waited until new drivers came out and did a clean install. Running dual boot with Win7 and ZERO problems. I haven't even touched 7 since the reinstall. The main issues I was having was the sound, as others was having. Running SB XFI Extreme. My system is about 6 years old home built rig with a ATI HD5870 card and none of the video problems as others are having. Again, DRIVERS,DRIVERS,DRIVERS. You must get the right drivers and listen to people on this forum. The small problems that I had, was solved by asking and searching this forum.

I like Windows 10 and think it is one of the best versions of Windows. I have been using Windows since Windows 1.0 or 2.0 (it's been so long I forget which one).

The most unwelcome and confusing version of Windows would have to be Windows 8.0. Gone were familiar buttons, menus, procedures, etc. A difficult learning curve for the average user. Windows 8.1 fixed a lot of this mis-step. After all of this near fiasco, Windows 10 is most welcome.

Windows 1.0 was never released, 2.0 was for testers mainly, 3.0 was first "real" Windows, 3.11 best of series (not counting NT). Quite a way Windows evolved !!!!
