I did a clean install of Windows 10, including manually installing a driver for my integrated video adapter. The sleep problem is still there. Thus, it seems that for whatever reason, this machine cannot wake from sleep under Win 10. I may or may not revert to Win 7.

Thank you for all your help!

I have exactly the same problem with you and tried everything...none of them works....very very frustrating.
To sad to hear that the issue still remains after you tried everything.

Have you tried using different RAMs? The this is last thing I haven't tried so far.

HP has hundreds, if not thousands, of different model machines out there -- and only SOME of them are certified to work under Win10.

They have a page where you enter your product number and it tells you if your particular HP machine has been tested for working with Win10: Confirm Upgrade to Windows 10 | HP® Official Site

And, the OPs machine has NOT.

Furthermore, that machine has no HP Win10 drivers --pretty much guaranteeing that one or more functions, that used to work perfectly under Win7, are no longer going to work properly under Win10.

So, simply because one HP product works fine under Win10 means nothing about any other HP product's performance under Win10.

I've exactly the same problem with my HP Compaq 6005 Pro MT PC with a fresh Windows 10 installation. I could fix the problem by installing the Windows 7 AMD AHCI driver. The x64 driver can be found here and the x86 driver here. The installer will not work under Windows 10, so you have to install the driver manually from C:\AMD\Radeon-Crimson-16.4.2-SB-SATA-AHCI-Win10-Win8.1-Win7-64Bit\Packages\Drivers\SBDrv\hseries\AHCI\W764A. Don't try the Windows 8 driver in WB64A directory - it will not solve the problem.

    This worked for me!
At first i got a error message stating windows version mismatch when i tried to use the driver installer located at C:\AMD\Radeon-Crimson-16.4.2-SB-SATA-AHCI-Win10-Win8.1-Win7-64Bit\Packages\Drivers\SBDrv\hseries\AHCI\W764A.

Finally got it installed by doing as follows:
Navigate to Device manager -> click anywhere to device list -> Action -> Add legacy hardware -> Next -> Install the hardware that i manually select from a list (Advanced) -> Show all devices -> Next -> Have Disc -> navigate to the folder C:\AMD\Radeon-Crimson-16.4.2-SB-SATA-AHCI-Win10-Win8.1-Win7-64Bit\Packages\Drivers\SBDrv\hseries\AHCI\W764A and select amd_sata.inf.

After the driver has installed you'll just need to restart the system and you're good to go!

    Many thanks to Kolibri42!

    Thanks To Everyone Here

A big thank you to you guys......... 2 years late I know

I just installed Windows 10 on my HP Compaq 6005 Pro desktop computer and had the same problem.

Computer will not properly resume from sleep mode.

Luckily you guys discussed the solution.

The method above did not work for me so I installed it this way................

I have written a more detail about how I installed and saved it as a text file in the driver folder so that I can remind myself next time .....

    Note 10-02-2020

This Driver Replaces the Microsoft SATA controller
    Driver.

The Microsoft driver does not allow the computer to
resume from sleep mode correctly as it does not
'wake up' the Sata hard drive correctly.

To install it you have to manually update the
driver from the Device Manage Control Panel.

Select the Sata Drive in the Device Manager Control Panel
and select the Driver tab and then click on "Update Driver"

Point the system towards this folder and it will see the amd_sata.inf file.

    Update the driver.

    Restart Computer.

    Done!

Note to self- Do not try to install it any other way!

Post #24 appears to provide download links if I've read it correctly. #25 -> installation instructions.

I'm sure those who've done it can provide further help with detailed questions.

    Hi Dalchina
thanks for your reply, i think all i need is a download of the following driver and i would be able to follow the instructions,
    AMD\Radeon-Crimson-16.4.2-SB-SATA-AHCI-Win10-Win8.1-Win7-64Bit\Packages\Drivers\SBDrv\hseries\AHCI\W764A.
but have tried the AMD support page but cannot find that particular one, when i look at what I've downloaded it does not match the above, maybe I'm doing something wrong i don't know that is why i need a bit more help.
    Thanks again.
