Event ID 1000 Mystery crash only in one folder except in XYplorer

    Event ID 1000 Mystery crash

A folder,(d:\Sync\manuals\office\hard and software\hardware\) containing only 17 PDF files, when opened crashes either file Explorer or other file managers such as Quad Explorer [Q-Dir] but not when opened in XYplorer!

The 17 PDF files have been checked for integrity as well as the folder structure.
It is only that one folder that triggers the crash.
Anyone have a clue what's going on here?

Check with Reliability History for entries ,especially the crashes and open ---view tech details ---for details.
Your file system sounds faulty, try cleaning it.
In Powershell [admin ]run ---dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth ---when completed, then run ---sfc /scannow ---and continue until a clean report is given.
It often helps to totally shutdown, that is power off, wait about a minute, power back on and restart.

    You have Microsoft Office?

Look at the Answer that says to look at the Add-Ins that are enabled in Microsoft Office.

    I don't have any 3rd Party Add-Ins.
(might be a 3rd party program that is trying to create a preview for a specific PDF file, but is unable to, and is crashing the whole thing)

Try making yours look like this, by maybe uninstalling 3rd party programs that are interfering, or can Disable them, if possible:
