Some people hate W7 & the W8 series.

I thought I read that MS is promising some sort of improved touchscreen features (in an upcoming preview).

They've even gave it a fancy name, I can't remember it though (not Cortana).
Someone posted the name just recently on these forums.
    Continuum

How about Windows X. Sounds very appropriate.
I am even more suspicious than Coke Robot. I suspect that this is Windows 8.1 (possibly update 2, which was cancelled) with a subtle implant of a preliminary start menu and a better Metro option switch to satisfy the menu complainers. A couple of insignificant things thrown in to top it. It is only an interim builds to test the water. Most of the system files remain unchanged from Windows 8.1.
There are some remarkable claims of "enormous" improvements in boot speed and performance of individual items. Running Windows 8.1, alongside Windows X, on two identical laptops, shows me none of these. There are marginal differences, agreed, but nothing, so far, mind blowing. But it is early days. Let's wait for the other shoe to drop.
Do keep in mind Windows 10 is build 6.4.98xx, Windows 8.1 is build 6.3.9600. VERY little is actually changed so far in preliminary builds such as these. A lot of system files are very much the same, even the imageres.dll doesn't have anything actually new in it.

Ugh! I wish they'd make Hyper-V more advanced than what it is now. I still end up going back to VMWare because they know how to virtualize software. It seems weird VMs run as separate PCs on a networks, to me at least.

What exactly do you mean? How is that any different from VMWare?

Thanks for the video on Continuum, this is something I am looking forward to seeing

I hope there is a lot more to come and it works a bit more like Win 8 when its finished, the video just looks like a full screen app running on the desktop

    Me neither!

I see they kept the 'Slide To Shutdown' feature for desktops!

I actually like it, it's quick, handy and fun!

    Pure gold. Absolutely fantastic.

For me, there is two things I can't work my head around:
    1. Virtual desktop. They aren't really in their own world. One misclick and you are back to the previous desktop.
    2. Unable to clean Start Menu "All Apps" easily.

Tidy Up the Start Menu or Screen - Edwin000's library
(Note: In the video, when you 'hide' Modern apps in a folder, you will be unable to invoke an instance of them, even from the 'hidden' folder, unlike a native application.

Thanks Tony, couple minor hitches but with this Preview I thought 'what the hey'?
One thing I forgot to put in the vid is that you can't invoke an instance of a Modern App while they're in a hidden folder from the hidden folder like you can with a native app.
