    Desktop Icons Disappear

When I click on a blank area of my desktop, all of my icons disappear. If I click on the task bar, they return but if I try to launch a program, they all disappear and the program doesn't launch.

Click the Start menu, power icon. Hold the shift key down and click on Restart.

If the problem comes back perform a clean boot state.

How risky is going into the clean boot state?

The clean boot state allows you to disable startup third-party programs and services its not risky.

    Clean Boot State Solved Issue

    Thanks to Ztrucker and Freebooter!
I went into the Clean Boot process, hid the MS programs and the disable all others. I then enabled all and backed out without going through the complete process. The problem went away and has not returned.

    Thanks again!
