It never worked for me either, I had to do a system restore. Startup Repair ran for 45 minutes then told me that it couldn't find anything wrong. I was stuck in a Lockscreen bootloop, entering my password only made it go back to the Lockscreen. Oh, I'd love it if it worked as well as it did in Windows 7...

I had to invoke sysrestore from an install dvd. So lately I have been just leaving it in the drive, heh. OP may have to do something like that, use install disk to start restore, restore to a point before the game was installed, if they can.
