Listed here as Intel inf and intel management Engine this where you downloaded from http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20Z97X%20Killer/?cat=Download&os=Win1064

Worth a try with SFC. This the Graphics driver you reinstalled again http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/90500/en-us

Unless i can find what else to check for a solution, how set on you staying with Windows 10, besides the issue? What was date did you install the Windows 10 upgrade over 8.1 ?
Ah okay. Thanks for the link. :)

As far as that issue goes, I think I'm okay staying on Windows 10 since it looks nice. If the flicker doesn't go away with the next build i might go back to windows 8.1. I installed it on the release day.

Your Welcome ! Issue with staying with Windows 10 is if do not have a Win 8.1 Disc or image and once go past 30 days after the upgrade, there is then no going back to Win 8.1. Reasons i ask, when did you upgrade and the last resort solution may either first try refresh, then inplace repair upgrade or reset same as clean install or do clean install from a Windows 10 ISO made to disc. As said i have seen quite a few with this issue with flicker after upgrade, either due to Norton or other bug i thought was fixed from Windows updates. So you are sure you were receiving and installed latest windows updates ?

More i look at this issue and try to compare it to ones i have seen for Windows 10 now, they are not the same exact issue. As yours flickers to black. We have done a clean boot to determine if any other drivers or software are causing this and result was, the issue persisted. Even disabling Shell extensions. Now say this happens only when clicking on something in windows, but mainly Start Menu.

Any chances can be monitor refresh rate problem or monitor issue. Other then that most will point towards then graphics card or it's drivers. Try reseating the card in PCI-E Slot. Only thing about this except refresh rate is, it would happen even if you did not do anything on screen. I have same GTX 970 but different brand, EVGA, no issues with new drivers or ones from the past.

Oh okay. I suppose I'll try updating to the latest drivers. If not then, I can see what I can do to talk to the tech support from the pc company that I bought from. To be honest, I had problems with GTX 970 on both brands. One is from EVGA Superclocked edition (i.e. factory overclocked card) and the other is PNY (referenced styled non factory overclocked card). Problem is that I get some artifacting in some games (i.e. Team Fortress 2 and the like). Never I had a problem with either Unigine benchmarks and 3DMark. Its quite weird but it kinda scares me to no end. Otherwise, if all else fails on the updated gpu drivers, I guess I'll call tech support about sending the gpu for rma.

As for Windows 10, I'll keep it. Its really nice OS, imo. :)

In my opinion stay away from PNY. Most cases someone reports an issue like this, i think of Video card or it's drivers, then possible reseat of card, cables to card and monitor or monitor. Thing is you say only happens with interactions with the OS.

If going to think with staying with OS and tech support can not help, i would then try the clean install from a disc, may cause you to reinstall drivers and software, hopefully will solve an issue unless hardware is at fault.

Yes, it only happens with interactions with the OS.

I know PNY was a hit or miss brand, just like Zotac. Ironically, I never had problems with the GTX 560 gpu from Zotac on my i7 960 build. Currently, that gpu might be on its last legs. What makes you think you don't like PNY?

When I first have the GTX 970 SC (evga) card, the card causes driver crashes because of the unstable stock clocks from the factory, plus I get artifacts in Team Fortress 2. I sent the card for an RMA, and the RMA card I got was literary the same. Drivers crashing and causing artifacts in TF2. Then...I currently used the GTX 970 PNY and guess what....same artifacts and sometimes it cause a driver crash. It kinda makes me sad that I dunno what to do. Kinda ruined the gaming experience for me. Man, I miss that fun on the i7 960 system. Fun times.

I'll try clean install if the updated gpu drivers didn't help or tech support. Did Windows released the ISO of Windows 10? Do I have to go from 8.1 to 10 again? Since I have Samsung 850 EVO, I'll probably do a secure erase then put the clean install on that drive. Sadly, I've never done a secure erase on the SSD before so that got me a bit worry.

PNY reputation as a brand and quality, have had issues with there RAM in the past. Stick with EVGA, MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte.
I think that was issue possibly with Team Fortress, wouldn't you think, happening on both cards and i have seen issues with this game and Windows 10 here., 1 game, not all games, right.

You have better i7 4790k, what's to miss, old games ? Think i posted links to Windows 10 ISO here, if not i will.No i do not think redoing upgrade is necessary. Inplace upgrade as mentioned here which i believe i linked if look back and will not loose anything, a refresh which you will loose all third party software, but not settings or reset or clean install from a disc, which of course will loose everything except a fresh OS install.

First possible choice, refresh Refresh Windows 10

Second choice InPlace repair upgrade Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Other choice on a reset like a clean install without a disc, no going back though Reset Windows 10

    Windows ISO https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/9...-download.html

    Clean install tutorial https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1...n-install.html

Remember with clean install need to reinstall all system drivers again. Some will get updated from Windows, suggest use link to manufacturer's site, most important, Intel Inf, Intel MEI, Lan drivers and you can get the Video card drivers from NVIDIA's site.

I will get the EVGA brand in the next coming years. I know they had good customer support.

So you have artifact issues with TF2, too? I wouldn't think I be the only one who has that problem. I love the 4790k processor, no doubt. Its a sweet processor, but what I mean is that it kinda ruins the experience when I get artifacts on TF2. I didn't think I have problems with WoW, FC4, or something.

Thanks for the link, jds63. :) I'll do that around later. :)

No, not me, i helping someone had issues with older games and one which was not as old was Team Fortress, doing research i saw others with issues is all i meant. Now i have Call of Duty World at War if that is one you meant and as old as Team Fortress or older and no issues with it,this is another issue we can work on after you resolve the first. I also have Far Cry 3 and 4 no issues, great games both. Your welcome, as easy to look through all tutorials here for guidance and help.

See my specs i have EVGA similar to your model card. Never had to call support.
