Thinking about Going back to Win8.1

Why? Because to me, it seems like Windows 10 is still buggy! I don't like the fact that I can't remove Windows Defender, and/or uninstall/disable some programs that I know i won't use. There are Windows software that are locked into this that eats my RAM and causes my PC to lag, which p*sses me off more than anything. I have an 8 Core processor, 16GB RAM and an SSD. I should NOT have any lag at all.

You are right, Windows 10 is still a bit buggy. I've also got 16Gb ram and an SSD drive, but your CPU sounds better than mine.
I personally wouldn't go back to my Windows 7.
I'm getting to like Windows 10, and it hopefully should improve as time goes on.

Hi you can turn windows defender off I have never enabled it on my laptop as I have McAfee doing the job for me and when I upgraded to 10 windows did not even attempt to turn on defender.
Are you sure it is not IE11 giving you the bugs as you say I have removed 11 and windows 10 run as good as gold, fast and Edge does not throw up about closing like 11 used too.

Also windows 10 uses less ram and I have a lot more room on the hard drive since upgrading and that is still with windows old folder still on the machine.
Perhaps your computer/laptop needs a defrag or dead files removed which CCleaner does on my laptop

Your specs indicate you have no antivirus. Antivirus None
If you remove Defender, what would you use? Apps like AVG & Avast will turn off Defender. This can be verified in Security and Maintenance in the control panel. Thinking about Going back to Win8.1-2015-09-15_02h34_57.png I have Avast running with Defender, but have realtime turned off In Avast, so Defender is realtime. If I turn realtime on in Avast, it will disable Defender realtime. You do have choices.

Can you list a few of the apps/progs you don't want?

Is IE11 on here as well as Edge? If so, I want them both turned off. . I use Chrome.

I pretty much consider myself an expert, so i don't use anti-viruses. IF i accidently get a virus, I dont mess around with it. I will perform a clean install that way I know 100% for sure all the remnants are gone.

    I don't want:

    IE11
    Edge
    Windows Defender
    Cortana
    OneDrive

Even the experts recommend some sort of antivirus and avast used to be good but now slows the machine t is on down too much.
Even with all I have installed on my laptop as I say it is fast.
If you went on a certain social site that I go on a lot you would always be reinstalling windows 10 as it has bugs on it all the time.

Also who wants to spend 4 to 5 hours at a time doing a format and reinstall and putting all the programs back in I certainly do not, that is why my laptop is fully protected with McAfee and so is the router in the house and all the phones and other ipads that everyone uses.

An expert would definitely know the need for an active scanner. A knowledgeable user is only one piece of the security pie.

Windows 10 does allow you to do without some of the services you are wanting to disable, but I can tell you this, given your system specs, they are not causing lag. Windows 8/8.1/10 use memory very effectively, in the fact they actually use your memory. Gone are the days of seeing high memory usage as a bad thing. As someone on another forum once said, if you don't want your memory used, take it out of the computer and put it in a shelf.

As for the browsers, no one is forcing you to use them, but any expert will tell you, it is always good to have at least two. Chrome is my browser of choice, but it won't render every page properly, so I keep Edge or IE handy just in case.

Too right an expert would know that is why they test all the time and recommend installing antiviruses,
funny they has not replied perhaps they have caught a virus.
I also have been doing and helping on computers for the last 10 years when windows 98 was out and was told even then, before you go online make sure your firewall is on and antivirus is working and up to date, and no way would I go online or any forum or troll the internet without being protected without antivirus being installed.

Don't like Crome and Edge is fast IE11 kept freezing on me as I have disabled it and uninstalled it and laptop good as gold
