Yea well your splitting hairs brother,
outlook.com/ Hotmail.com/ live.com are all Microsoft accounts and can be used for win-10,
These are also the most common Microsoft accounts,
I can't remember how or why people make the account your referring to,
Cheers.
I'm not splitting hairs. The Microsoft Account and your Hotmail account are two different accounts. However, your Hotmail account is accessed via your Microsoft account.
So, when you create a Hotmail account, it actually creates a Microsoft account, then creates a Hotmail account and links the two.
The point being, if your Hotmail account is, for whatever reason, disabled, compromised, whatever... it is not related to your Microsoft account, nor would it affect your ability to log in to your PC (though you wouldn't be able to get your Hotmail email).
Microsoft Account is a rebranding of Microsoft Live. It is a consolidated ID that can be used across services.
You can create a Microsoft Account using any eMail address (Yahoo, Gmail, Verizon, Comcast, ...)
- About Microsoft Account
Microsoft Account said:- Microsoft Account sign-up
- Microsoft Account sign-in
It's a concept similar to OpenID, but is specific to MS services / devices.
Good point Slarty. I was just playing with Chrome and Google does about the same thing. I have a Google account and that ties in with Drive, G Mail, Chrome, YouTube, Google Earth, Maps etc. They are all separate accounts that tie together with Google. MS does the same with Windows Live err... Microsoft Account. Heck, MS even ties in my XBox consoles into the account. They are starting to merge into one large Google or MS account.
The nice thing was when I had to rebuild my Android phone after upgrading to Kit-Kat, all my contacts were on the Google account so nothing was lost but a few apps and old text messages.

I've never seen Aero cause any more or less resource usage than when it is turned off in Win7. In fact its almost the same.
Going from Aero to the flat ugliness of 8/10 is jarring, like going from a 3D world to one dimension.
