Screw that! I've created a scheduled task for rebooting my PC each day. For now it will do, until someone has a better way.

I've got this problem as well. Seems to be caused by the windows update as I sometimes get (wuauserv) at the end of the power request string and I can relate it to the update entries in the event log.

I have to say that win 10 seems to have a much better 'requests' system as all events seem to get shown.

As far as I can see, though, the fault lies in not clearing the svchost request after it is needed. This then stops win 10 from sleeping.

This looks eminently more fixable than the 8.1 sleep problem, though, says he hopefully!!

At least now, Windows shows something in powercfg -requests. I just need someone who will be able to teach me how to kill that. lol
From an elevated command prompt try this command to override the request:
    POWERCFG -REQUESTSOVERRIDE SERVICE svchost.exe EXECUTION

I don't have this request so I can't test if it works...

I was holding off on trying an override as I figured the updates put through the power request for a good reason. Also, this is eminently fixable so maybe I can work around it till MS get the fix through (I, know, I am an optimist!!).

However, just thinking about it, a 20 min sleep timeout would probably allow the svchost process to complete, anyway.

Will see how I go (no updates over the last 24 hours) but will bear the override in mind. Thanks David.
