Well when I typed "printers" in the search windows icon on my taskbar, it displayed my default printer at the top. So, it works for me no problem.

Question for you.. are you using Cortana? Have you disabled it?

Search seems to be very tied up with Cortana and I am wondering if I am getting this issue because I have disabled it.

I believe Cortana Has nothing to do with it because on both my friend's laptop and mine it is disable automatically (because we live in Canada and its not supported here) but search works fine on my friend's laptop but not mine as seen in the screenshots

I have Cortana off, turned it off on 1st week of installing win 10. Have no use for it. Search works just fine for me. I don't use the Start Menu, the windows search is located right next to the start menu.

Windows Key + "X" key will bring up the context menu that allows you to go to Control Panel. Settings is still a work in progress. Microsoft has stated that everything from Control Panel will not be fully migrated over to Settings, until sometime late next year.

I hardly use search. If I do, I do it from the File Explorer. The integration of Cortana into Windows Search has been a PITA. What I am doing when setting systems up is change the Indexing so that only the C: drive is fully searched, instead of just user folders.

I am getting a feeling that Cortana purposely is set up to go out to the Web, instead of it set up to ask if you want to just search the computer or search the web.

Windows 10 search not finding Control Panel items SOLVED

Press Windows Key + "X" key will bring up the context menu that allows you to go to Control Panel.
Control panel > Admin Tools > Services > Double click windows search , in the dropdown box select Automatic & start OK

You know have your search box again

    This is the expected result:

    Attachment 36369

That works and gives me what I want, but in Windows 7 all these search results were available in the Start Menu search. A previous poster can get this, as demonstrated by the above image.
Did you manage to fix this problem? I used to have the behavior as the screenshot above and after Win10 Creators update it stops finding the control panels when I use the search box.
