I think that when Cortana went unsupported and disappeared with an update, will Windows 10 operating system disappear after October 2025..also I use a virtual music recording and editing app, that functions offline and more or less that will be all that I need the computer for. So if there is some way to stay offline after October 2025, not needing updates because I'm using the computer solely to make use of the operating system to work my music app ..how do I block any updates that may take away the Windows 10 pro operating system. I don't have the Internet service for about a year now but maybe in the future I may get it back.
I can practically assure you from a common sense perspective it will continue to work just fine.. Guaranteed!
The whole update mania we have these days is anyway 99% marketing. "how to get at your wallet and suck some money out..."
Don't fall for the screams and push.

In my humble opinion the vendor of the operating system is going in the wrong direction it it will eventually backfire. Soon to be pushing Windows 12 with I don't know what gazillion of absurd and mandatory requirements.
We garter flavor already with Windows 11 despite that some 10 years ago with big fanfare it was announced that Windows 10 is the final operating system.
Do you know and that's a fact, there are plenty of nations where still the vast majority works on a working operating system Windows XP and not the later bloathware behemoths.

Believe it or not that includes contemporary airliners! There is some YouTube video by Stig Shift … Aircraft Maintenance Adventures were you can actually see him starting up an onboard maintenance monitoring system which boots up in Windows XP!

I have in my office an old computer that runs Windows XP and it runs just fine.
All I do is update antivirus software.

Don't fall for the screeching hype and coercion about security etc.

Personally my input: what this industry is doing is criminal. Imagine if you could only drive on the roads with cars that are no more then 10 years old as all cars older are declared not compatible with roads...
furthermore you have to have manufacturer approved tires for specific roads... Can gas up only on specific brand gas stations...

Microsoft is the monster of marketing all they care about is the making of money, when they stopped including a CD with their operating systems, and just downloaded it to users of their older OSs, they gained full control of it.

From XP to Win 10 i could use many older programs like the copy og Microsoft Office 1997 that was included with my Gateway 486 computer, not with Win 11 my old trusty Word would install but would not work, i made the mistake of downloading Microsoft Office 365, tried it's word and tried getting Microsofts offer of a refund i had paid, this just could not be done, just contacting them within their 30 day refund policy was a try and try again day after day then i was declined as i had missed the deadline.

It's not the $69.95 amount it's Microsoft just pushing a new program that is not close to as good as the older program, and making everyone pay for a yearly subscription.

Why so many people are having problems with new systems as i am with it coming with Win 11 installed, and removing it cancels my warranty, is Win 11 is buggy Microsoft knows this and they are using people as their Beta testers, and then they do little to fix anything.

Just happy i have other computers still running windows 10.

When updating versions it needs the internet. My fear was (and am now relieved of it thanks to this forum)that if I hooked the computer to the Internet when updating my virtual music recording, editing studio, that something would happen to my outdated Windows10 Pro computer( non-compliance).

I have 4 Desktops and a couple Notebooks with Win10 and no issues. I'm also not having any issues with Win11 but then I don't do much customizing of it it, have to keep the same as what my clients see.

As for old programs, there are some that don't work and when needed I still have a Win7 computer.

I do have a few that work as Portable Apps, one is Claris Works 5 from about 1997 and DeltaCAD 3 and DeltaCAD 4 about the same age, have them on a USB drive for portability.

For installing a couple of old programs from CD I found the default install didn't run on Win10 or Win11 but digging into the disc for the actual setup.exe file has worked.

    NO.

An "App" disappearing is one thing, Windows 10 disappearing, would start WW III.
That could be sooner than October lol

Removing an included operating system DOES NOT void any hardware warranty, they might tell you it does but the consumer rights act would say different.

Well i was informed by the systems seller that if i altered any item software or hardware installed on laptop, the warranty would be invalodaed.
Maybe you know something i don't know about the warranty of my MSI laptop.

In the U.K. If you altered the hardware they would have to prove that caused any issues, software is a non-issue otherwise people double booting different OS would fall foul of this by your definition. Here we have the Consumer Rights act to protect us.

Here in the USA we have a major company that have billions of computers using their operating system, and have billions of dollars and pay millions into the countries tax base.
There is no way a simple user can win against them.

Nor will it make a difference if all the geeks and nerds abaondon Windows in favor of Apple or Linux (which one?). We are outnumbered by everyone else, by like millions to one.

    So no we can't win.
