Mouse scrolling has stopped. Please help!

All of a sudden the mouse scrolling has stopped working on all my web sites on my desktop. It's not my corded mouse, I checked and it scrolls just fine on my laptop. I don't have a clue on what is causing it. Has the same problem on chrome and firefox. Gotta be something screwed up in windows 10. Even restored a backup to before the problem started and same problem. Please help. I'm at a complete loss.

And does it scroll e.g. file explorer scroll bars on your desktop PC?

What sort of mouse is it? How is it connected?
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver (completely)?

Check this (found from the web- not tried personally):

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
If WheelScrollChars and WheelScrollLines are 0 this will disable scrolling.
Note: If you open the Mouse setting in the Control Panel, it will reset those settings back to 3

If it is that, I'd have thought using a suitable System Restore point would have fixed this, as it's happened recently.

    More:
Boot to Safe Mode. Does mouse scrolling work then?

Of course cleaning may be needed- but you say it works on a laptop.

I don't exactly know what you mean when you say"And does it scroll e..g. file explorer scroll bars on your desktop?" The mouse is a corded Logitech B100. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling driver but no help. I have booted to safe mode but did not help. MyWheelScrollChars and WheelScrollLines are 5

I don't have a mouse, Wired, Wireless or Bluetooth, that has the horizontal scroll for characters but I do set the computers for 1/Single line vertical scroll, easier for me for me to read documents. Maybe change the settings for the mouse and see if anything works.

Do you have another mouse to try (or can borrow one from another system) and see if it exhibits the same behavior?

Well- and thank you so much for your polite reply.

No solution? Everyone wants a magic instant fix for free!

Your registry values are wrong- so correct them.

As for file explorer- male sure a scroll bar is visible on the right- click anywhere in the pane and scroll..... the file list should scroll up and down.

Why do I ask? 'cos you only mention browsers.

Thank you Berton, and AK6DN for your polite replies and suggestions on fixing my problem. Finally found what was causing it and it was such a simple fix. I recently downloaded AlwaysMouseWheel AlwaysMouseWheel 6.26 Allows Mouse Wheel in inactive Window so I could contol my desktop volume with my mouse wheel. Some how a setting on the app got changed that caused this problem. Somehow the "Bring the window to the front (with wheel) got checked instead of "just forwarding the wheel command" like it should have. Anyway all is good now, thank you again.Mouse scrolling has stopped. Please help!-imageedit_1_5896187120.jpg
