    @RhinoCan

    There are 3rd party clipboards. You might luck out and find one of them that works.

    There are also a bunch of clipboard Apps in the Microsoft Store.

    I had set aside the whole weekend to do something for free that I can't really afford otherwise so having to do a multi-hour procedure to fix the bloody clipboard REALLY messes with my plans ;-( But what can you do?

    Thanks for diagnosing the problem and telling me how to sort it out. I'm going to try to proceed with my plans WITHOUT fixing this until Monday. Maybe I'll get lucky....

    Open the Microsoft Store and search for: "Clipboard"

    There's bunches of them.
    And most are far more powerful than the built in clipboard, which can only remember one thing at a time.

    Have you run SFC?
    SFC-DISM - TenForumsTutorials
    Use Option 3 including, if there are irreparable errors, going online to run the DISM command explained at the end of Option 3.

    @RhinoCan

    @Try3 makes a good point.

    Open a command prompt as Admin, and run these commands, one at a time...

    sfc /scannow

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    These should always be run, before thinking about doing an In-Place Upgrade.

    And before jumping to ANY generalised Windows repairs- create a new user account.

    Log in as that user.

    If you DON'T see the same problem- then general Windows repairs won't fix it... it's specific to your account.

    The scannow /SFC solved the problem! Thank you to everyone who made suggestions!!

    I didn't realize that there were "after-market" clipboards that I could use in place of the standard one. That would have been the next thing I tried ;-)
