    1. Check the disk(s) - Hard Disk Sentinel is very good - for SSDs too; basic: Crystal Diskinfo (free).
    2. Check basic resource usage about 3 mins after logging on from a cold boot.
    3. Check free space on C:
    4. Ensure page file settings are as default.

    As for basic maintentance:
    a. run
    chkdsk X: /scan
from an admin command prompt for all disks/partitions
    b. Similarly run
    SFC /SCANNOW

    Space:
Cleaning the disk does imply potential risks in that you might affect something you don't want to.
Perhaps only consider this when there are genuine space issues and leave that as a recommendation for the client to do.
Whilst Windows generally looks after this there are exceptions.

Enable or Disable Storage Sense in Windows 10
Open and Use Disk Cleanup in Windows 10
Clean Up Component Store (WinSxS folder) in Windows 10

    I suggest using Disk Clean.
It can have a significant effect on performance [including boot times].
Some years ago, somebody worked through comparing the effect of some of those snake oil Registry cleaners with the effect of Disk clean and it was just as effective.
