    New Folder Problems

I have downloaded windows 10 successfully. However, when I try to create a 'new folder' in Documents, the Documents window puts out a message "not responding".

I can create a 'new folder' on my desktop and put it in the Documents folder, but I cannot use the "new folder" icon in the Quick Access bar to create one in the Documents folder itself. Am I failing to see something I should have done?

I may be misunderstanding your Q but can you create a folder on the drive somewhere else and right-click it and pin it to the quick access node?

    New Folder Problems

    Hi Kanta,
Thanks for responding, I', sorry for not getting back right away, but I had some problems with my password and user name. I an not very fluent with computer terms etc.

When I bring up the folder "Documents" which contains all my files, I am unable to create a "new" folder inside the "Documents" folder. I am also unable to right-click on any folder in order to "rename" any folder inside the "Documents" folder.

I am able to create a "new" folder on my desktop, but am an also unable to right-click it to rename the "new" folder I just created.

Is this clear to you? I hope it is, I'm wondering if I shouldn't simply reload windows 8.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Can you create or rename a folder if you go to c:\users\yourusername\Documents rather than accessing Documents via the Quick Access list?

Ztruker, thanks for responding, but I tried twice and the folder just freezes up and the message is -- Documents (not responding); and when I try to close the folder it takes awhile to go away.

    Thanks again for trying.

Open File Explorer or This PC, navigate to where Documents is.
Right click on Documents and select Properties.
Click on the Customize tab, What is Optimize this folder for set to. Mine is set to General Items.

I clicked on "This PC". However, when I right-cliked on "Documents" the folder froze and a message came to the top of the folder saying (not responding). I cannot right-click anywhere--not in Documents, any folder or even on the desktop. When I do the little circle appears showing the computer is working and a message eventually appears (not responding).

Actually, the 'little circle' keeps going until I click on the top of the folder. Only then do I get the message (not responding).

Thanks for your help. I tried 'system restore' for the date I uploaded windows 10. The problems I had been having with new folders and folder properties have been solved.
