    Dell REtools partition necessity

A desktop PC has never had an RE*tools* partition, but a Dell laptop did - until it was deleted.

    This Inspiron 11-3148 runs Win10 HOME 10.0.19045, build 19045

Is that partition truly necessary for booting from the BIOS in case of OS failure, or simply a Dell tool with utility that can be handled in another way? If so, how is this best done via MS recovery?

Or how can the tools partition be restored?

    Thanks

Dell Recovery Tools Partition, is a small partition on Dell computers that contains tools, Drivers and utilities for system recovery and troubleshooting. This partition is typically created by Dell during the manufacturing process and is used to store recovery tools and diagnostic utilities that can help users restore or troubleshoot their system in case of issues.

If you create a System Image of your computer using Macrium Reflect or your favorite 3rd party Imaging/Clone app and save that Image on an External Drive, then you don't really need this partition.

To boot from bios you do not need this recovery partition.

    Appreciate the insight.

Yes, it would be wise to image, as is done with the desktop PC. It has saved me many a time. It's not practical with this old LT.

Bottom line hints that the Dell tool utils are not required in case of OS failure and that recovery is possible via MS recovery tools commonly used with other PCs.
