    Here's a strange one

PC running Win 10 22H2 build 19045.3570 with a Ryzen 9 3900X CPU on a Gigabyte GA-AX370-Gaming K7 mobo with a 750W PS. I have the rear fan connected to the SYS Fan port on the mobo and have the BIOS SMARTFan run the fans a full speed (the CPU is fan cooled).

The AMD Turbo CPU fan is running at full but every now and then I notice that the rear sys fan has stopped (it should be running at full shouldn't it?).

This is also a PC that will suddenly lock, no blue screen, no shutdown. The only way out is to manually hold the power button down until it shuts off and then restart it.

My question, though, is why a system fan should keep stopping when the BIOS has the fans at full speed. Could this be a power issue between the mobo and the PS?

Two questions I ask of clients, do they have a pet in the house and has the CPU Heatsink [with the fins] been blown out lately. Pets can have fine hair that ends up everywhere over time and filling the fins causes heat issues, same for any openings in the case. Dust settles on the fans' blades reducing effectiveness.

Thanks, guys. Figured out it was a bad fan. Never had a new one that was bad but this one will start spinning if I twirl it with my finger, then stops after a while. Rinse and repeat.
