Not wanting to say this is a bug without confirmation from other multilingual users, could be that it's something on my computers, although it for sure looks like a bug as this happens in all windows 10 machines, real and virtual I have:

The selected default input language occasionally changes by itself.

If you have experienced something similar I would be interested to know more.

    Here's what happens:

Running English (US) build 9926, quite a many languages installed and enabled because I need them:

I have specifically told Windows not to use the language list to determine the default input language but always use English (US) - Finnish as the default (Windows language format DISPLAY_LANGUAGE - INPUT_LANGUAGE, that's why it's not simply Finnish but English (US) - Finnish):

Yet, occasionally the input language changes by itself, most often to English (US), sometimes to German. A few times I have noticed the input language indicator in notification area to change when I am doing nothing but looking at the display; it's showing ENG - FI as it should be, I am not typing or moving the pointer but suddenly I notice how the indicator changes to for instance ENG (US). Sometimes the wrong input language is shown directly after the boot and I have to start with manually changing it back to my preferred default.

However, usually I notice the wrong input language only when typing when the wrong characters are shown.

Anyone else using multiple input languages getting this?

    Hi Kari.

I use a mixture. I live in Denmark for family reasons, but speak the language badly. I am native British. For obvious reasons, I need a Danish !input" for my keyboard.
I did not want to see adverts, search offerings...etc in Danish, so I choose the English (UK Format, as my choice in "Regions", and, in the same custom option, the United Kingdom as my Home location.
    OK. That is the background.

This works for me, for about 98% of the time. For some reason, if I have freeze (happens sometimes when using IE) the only way to clear the data is to log out and in again. I find on the log in, the computer has reverted to the Eng keyboard, so a few key have to be "misused" (the @, for example). When I am logged in again, everything is back to normal.

Not quite the fault that you are experiencing, but maybe helpful?

Thanks Dave. At least that confirms that the default input language will sometimes be changed without user interaction; in your case a simple re-login can change it.

Every boot I get this error if I use the language list as the default input method (recommended). It works if I specify it. It has been like this since the beginning for me. Solved Keyboard changed on logon - Windows 10 Forums Same issue?

Not exactly the same issue, I have always used the override option, not the language list.

Not a bug. but...Has anyone seen disk cleanup or optimize in the start menu on Build 10041? Maybe I'm overseeing it, but to use them I either have to use search(fastest method) or use them from file explorer(Which yeah is a logical place seeing that our partitions & drives are represented there) then pin them to taskbar when I really want to pin then to start.

I pinned it to the taskbar.

edit: go to admin. tools > right click on disk cleanup > pin to start.
Just tried it and it works.

Just a thought, are you synchronising your language/keyboard settings through MS account?

Thanks, Admin tools are not showing up in the start menu like they "should" so I did it the long way to "old" control panel and from there I could pin to start like you said.

Dang it, I should have said go to control panel. I'm going into the corner for 5 min.
Glad it worked for you anyway.
