Date Created is Ambiguous for Image Files
I am running Ver. 22H2 OS Build 19045.3208
I just downloaded a set if iPhone photos to my PC . I also downloaded them to my 2008 Win7 machine. They are the ones in the DCIM folder for the month of May 2023.
I sorted out the .MOV files and put them into their own folder.
Windows tells me that today, the date I moved them from the iPhone (where they have a precise EXIF date) is the date I created them. The Windows date is completely useless.
In another column called "Date Modified" there are several dates, none of which make any sense to me. I have not edited any of them in any way.
When I add a column for the "Date Taken" it is not populated, nor is "Date Acquired."
The highlighted image in the attachment was taken on 5/10/23 at 4:25:36 according to Irfanview's report of the EXIF data.
I am not impressed by Windows 10's handling of date/time information.
I still have a Win7/Pro x64 machine running. In Win 7 Microsoft's dates make sense, matching the EXIF for all 3 headings.
Windows 7 seems too risky to use online.
What is a fellow to do?
