Monitor will not wake after Monitor turn off

Using Win 10 Pro Version 22H22 Build 19045.3208

For many years, I have had the computer set to shut down the screen after 45 minutes of inactivity. Sleep has been set to "Never". Given these settings, the monitor did shut down but any mouse activity or keyboard input would bring the monitor back to life.

In the last month, the monitor shuts down as expected but about half the time neither mouse movement or keyboard input will being the monitor back to life. I haven't timed it but I suspect that the longer the monitor is shut down, the more likely that it can't be brought back to life.

During the blackout, the keyboard is still responsive because a right sequence of keys will do a normal computer shut down.

Once the computer is rebooted, all seems normal but the problem will recur.

I've searched extensively and here's what I've done so far:

    - Implemented all the suggested fixes in the following link:
[SOLVED] Computer Won't Wake Up From Sleep Windows 11/10 - Driver Easy

    - In device manager/mouse properties/power management, "Allow the computer to turn off..." is unchecked. "Allow this device to wake...." is checked.

    - the keyboard in device manager has the same settings.

    - In device manager/Human Interface Devices/Power Management, for every device "Allow the computer to turn off..." is unchecked. "Allow this device to wake...." is grey.

    - I've checked the mouse, keyboard and monitor divers any they are all current.

I haven't added or removed any programs just before this started to happen. The only Windows changes have been the normal bi-weekly Windows updates.

    All Windows updates are installed.

I'm at a loss. Does anyone have suggestions?

I'd be checking monitor settings for an answer personally.

According to the monitor's user manual going into power saving mode is automatic when there is no video signal. The monitor's display should be restored when you press a key causing the video to return.
When there is no video input signal this monitor, following a time-out period, will automatically switch to power saving mode. This reduces the monitor's internal power supply consumption. After the video input signal is restored, full power is restored and the display is automatically redrawn. The appearance is similar to a "Screen Saver" feature except the display is completely off. The display is restored by pressing a key on the keyboard, or clicking the mouse.
When you press a key are you sure there is actually video output? If there isn't then maybe there is nothing wrong with the monitor and the problem is with the video card.

This "monitor wake up" process has worked for years but the problem started about a month ago with no known trigger.

Am I sure that there is video output?
When the monitor shuts down the monitor power lamp changes from green to amber. I believe that means that the computer/video card has stopped sending a video output. Normally, moving the mouse or pressing any keyboard key changes that power lamp back to green, resumes video output and the monitor comes back to life. When it fails to come back to life, the monitor power lamp remains amber. I believe that means that mouse or keyboard input didn't resume video output. The question is - Why?

    Hello @dsscottage,

Copy & Paste the following commands into a CMD Prompt and press Enter after EACH. It might help with diagnostics.

    Code:

    PowerCFG -DeviceQuery Wake_Armed
    PowerCFG -DeviceQuery Wake_Programmable
    PowerCFG -DeviceQuery Wake_From_Any

    I hope this helps.
