Thanks LesFerch! Let me give that a try. Oddly enough, it seems that the folder type I am dealing with might actually a real "type" but not one of the the 5 that I was aware of. The type seems to be called "web folder" (?) I am not certain now, i accidentally found that title at some point and not sure where it was displ;ayed. I could be totally wrong until i can find it again. I wasnt aware of there being already being more than the normal 5 I am accustomed to.
And lucky me, because it seems to already exist, the changes I make DO stay in place. Since this is also a custom Shared Network folder, I have not found any others that are affected by my changes in View settings.
There are 56 different folder types in the registry, (28 of which are shown in WinSetView), but none with "web" in the name. Are you setting the view just for that folder or are you also clicking the "Apply to Folders" button? If the former, then the view only applies to that folder. If the latter, then the view will apply to all folders of the same type.

Network folders (SMB shares) are typically type "General items", so if you click "Apply to Folders", then the current view will be applied to all folders of type General items. Please post a screenshot if what I'm describing doesn't seem to match up with what you're seeing.

Those and some others are all great. Unfortunately... This is one of those 'Corporate ENvironaments where they won't allow anything that doesnt come with their Special Windows Corp Version. I Hate it too! This is just one of many things where I have to deal with ONLY Microsoft Software. Believe me, i was not thrilled with testing the limits on what coul;d be done and what might be disallowed after I found a solution. Right now, everynbody is Happy and all seems to be working properly. They got their special folder layout so I wont have to listen to them complain about why they can't just name folders anything they want to. :)
