Cannot import edited Registry hive

I managed to 'load hive' of a slave drive, export it, change .reg to .txt, achieve some of the required editing, changed .txt back to .reg and tried but failed to import it back. How can I replace the original slave registry with the edited one ? x32Win10ProV22H2

any messages when you try to import the reg file ?

I'm confused about names; I have twice had to allocate a name and I created two different ones.

But now there is another issue - even if I were able to import the reg file it would be imported to the system drive, but I need it on the slave drive. Unloading the hive would not put it on the slave drive - it would just disappear.

I've made SOME progress, but am lost. Can I get more detailed step by step information - I do take on board the requirement for AS ADMINISTRATOR, though I do not know how I would achieve that.

when you load the hive give it the name systemkey

then you should be able to import your reg file

By sheer co-incidence, I did use the name systemkey.
But that imports it into the registry of the system drive - how do I then get it into the slave drive ?

It imports into hklm\systemkey

therefore if you load a hive from windows\system32\config of your "slave drive " ( whatever that means ), and name it systemkey you will be able to merge that reg file into it.
