Unwanted links to display info -bottom right of screen

Please can you post a screenshot of a full window- not just a small portion of your screen.

As I showed you, and as Try3 has said, these appear at the bottom right of a file explorer window.

You first screenshot appeared to show them on the desktop above your taskbar.

Can you please help us understand what, exactly, you are seeing so we don't waste time? Thanks!!

I cannot get System Restore to work

Please be more specific.

a. Do you have any restore points available?
E.g. win key + r, rstrui.exe (type enter), click Next
I see

for example.

Or do you mean
b. I have one or more restore points available but restoring one fails.

Or do you mean
c. System Restore is not enabled

Please clarify explicitly. Thank you.

I think you have hit the nail on the head.
Mind you, my Desktop does nothing in response to the suggested Ctrl-Shift-6 keys [or Ctrl-Alt-6 as some comments in that article suggest].


The key thing for the OP is that the Desktop can be returned to normal by right-clicking on the Desktop, View and selecting any of the icon Views.

There's never any need to apologise for having asked a question in this forum.
Just look at Saint's post #12. I had never even heard of that before & he would not have posted it but for your question. Even though those shortcuts don't work for me, at least I've now heard about them.

They are just views which can also be adjusted using File explorer's View menu.
Those icons can become annoying when search results are displayed since their default is the Large thumbnails one. This can be turned off in favour of the Details one [the left-hand one of the pair] -
I thought there was a tutorial for this but I cannot find it. I used Change Search Results Default View - Ramesh Srinivasan to do it.

If you are going to tailor search results views at all then do consider going the whole hog and using LesFerch's WinSetView - TenForums

Yes, I noticed the date as well but some of the comments were about it working in TenForums.
Perhaps it's just particular display drivers that can achieve the change, I don't know.

My Explorer windows do not show those icons:



Keep note to how customized my Explorer window looks compared to the default Windows 10 windows. Look at the top of the picture.

I found the way to disable those two icons down there:
Go here and uncheck:

But your Status bar is showing.
I think it was another of your customisations that turned off those two icons.

In my standard File explorer window, I can either have
- the Status bar & those two icons
or
- no Status bar & neither of those two icons

I'm using an alternate, 3rd party, Status Bar.
Look what happens when I check that checkbox from the picture above:



Look at the bottom of this window. The two icons show up after I did the checkbox.
I highly suggest the thread starter try my suggestion from my previous post.

Edit (10:14 AM my local time):
Disabling those two links will also make the total number of items, listed on the left, to disappear too. Judesman, you are not used to looking at that number on the left side, right?
If you do want to see that number, and disable the two links, then you'd have to do a modification kinda similar to what my Explorer windows look like. I can assist you with that later if interested.
