Check Device Manager, see if you need to install a device driver for the touchpad. Does an external mouse work?
Also, finish filling out your System Specs. That will help people to now what your hardware is.
Any update on this? I am having the same problem on my Asus S400CA. An external mouse works perfectly. I installed the drivers from the Asus site and can now go into the touchpad control panel and enable it. However, that only allows me to move the cursor with the touchpad, but it will not click (tap or button press).
When i DL 10 it took half a dozen tries to update my touchpad drivers, >>>from WU<<<, keep trying.

I assume WU stands for Windows Update? I made sure that I had everything up to date multiple times. Seems to be a driver issue which I would think would have to be fixed by the manufacturer, not MS.
Yes, WU means Windows Update. Drivers from WU have to first be in WHQL Windows Hardware Certification - Windows Hardware Dev Center. Can also try the vendor's site directly or go on a forum for that vendor and poke around. Also try Device Manager and Update Driver.
Hi Roy,
Try to get the required driver from here:Download ASUS X55A Notebook Drivers for your windows xp, vista, 7 and 8.
Win8 drivers will work.
You may need to install the ASUS smart Gesture Utility. It installed automatically via Windows update for me on my K75DE. I don't have a touch screen though. Without the Smart Gesture Utility I have no two finger scroll etc.
